Our captain exceeded my expectations with what we were able to see, and where we visited. He was so knowledgeable about the area, the sea life as well as the moorings and anchorages. He was also extremely attentive to everyone’s needs and put together an awesome itinerary. I plan on going back again, and again!

Welcome to the world famous Phuket, Thailand’s largest island lying off the country’s west coast in the shimmering Andaman Sea. Phuket offers a dazzling array of experiences, from historic sites, Buddhist temples, and elephant sanctuaries to stunning beaches, world class scuba diving, and vibrant nightlife. At the north east end of the island lies the Ao Por Port about a 30 minute taxi ride from Phuket Airport. There you’ll find the Ao Po Grand Marina which offers many services including dining and a nearby hotel and pool. Enjoy the local cuisine all cooked to order with fresh ingredients and lots of chili. For a fun view of Thai culture visit the FantaSea theme park, a celebration of everything Thai, including the superb cuisine.
At the northern-most part of the Ko Yao archipelago in the Ao Phang Nga National Park, just north of Ko Yao Noi (or Small Long Island), lies the outlying islands of Ko Roi and its neighbor Ko Kudu Yai. The dense jungles on these islands can be explored on foot via short dinghy rides that land on beaches revealed at low tide. An absolute highlight on the south west side of Ko Kudu Yai is a visit to the enchanting hong (Thai for “room”) hosting a cove rimmed with limestone towers. At dusk you may witness the island’s flying inhabitants soaring into the sky – thousands of fruit bats taking flight for an evening of feeding in the jungles on the mainland.
On the eastern shore of Phang Nga Bay, in the province of Krabi, lies Railay Beach – famous for its spectacular location on the Andaman Sea and well known to rock climbers around the world. Many nearby beaches, such as portions of Tonsai Beach to the north, have a remote and secluded ambience due to their inaccessibility by road, surrounded by limestone cliffs and towering rock formations. At the south end of the bay there’s superb snorkeling teeming with colorful corals and reef fish. For the actively adventurous, local operators offer rock climbing and there’s the hike to the nearby Bat Cave to the south, or hike the nature trails and spot Gibbons, Monkeys, Bats, and Birds in the trees above. Along the beach enjoy tasty dining options and relax on the warm sand with a cool drink.
Visiting the waters of Phi Phi Don is a must for any voyage through the Andaman Sea. Said to be one of the three most beautiful islands in the world, Phi Phi Don has an idyllic charm, with beachfront restaurants, bars, and shops at Ton Sai Bay blending in with the stunning scenery. The island is one of six islands in the Hat Nopparat Thara-Ko Phi Phi National Park and offers many choices of serene natural beauty such as at Koh Lana Bay to the north, along with vibrant night life at the island’s main village, Ton Sai, located on the sandy isthmus connecting the island’s two limestone ridges. Snorkeling and scuba diving on the reefs in this area is some of the best in Thailand – divers will particularly want to explore the spectacular Hin Klang reef just to the north.
East of Phuket lies the beautiful Ko Yao Yai, (or Big Long Island) the larger of two islands in the Ko Yao Archipelago. Centrally located in Phang Nga Bay, Ko Yao Yai is a quiet island in the ideal spot to experience amazing sunsets over the Andaman Sea. On the southwest shore of the island lies the Elixir Resort featuring a tiki bar on the sand, the ocean view Waves Restaurant serving grilled, Thai, and international cuisine, many spa services, and a beautiful swimming beach that looks out on the setting sun.
Part of the island group associated with Phuket, just a few miles off Phuket’s east coat, is Ko Rang Yai. Here a beautiful white sand beach wraps around the west side of the island. Though not a secret beach, Ko Rang Yai is certainly a quiet destination. Lounge on the beach, swim in the warm blue sea, and then check out the pearl shop or have lunch at the day time restaurant serving local Thai delicacies – you might like to try the Yam Thale (spicy seafood salad). Enjoy dinner on the aft deck as the sun sets over Phuket, a truly memorable way to spend an evening aboard.
Welcome back to the Ao Po Grand Marina. Enjoy the neighboring sites of the Thalang District including the Supalai Scenic Bay Resort, and the Khao Phra Thaeo Non-hunting Area protecting more than twenty square kilometers of rainforest in the hills of the district. The Siring National Park on the northwestern coast protects a large area of land and marine ecosystems, including Nai Yang Beach where sea turtles lay their eggs. A quick drive south of Ao Por brings you to the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary where you can appreciate the majesty of these gentle giants and even catch a vegetarian lunch.
We guarantee to rebook you and your entire traveling party aboard another Sail Around The World voyage to your same destination at no charge to you if the US State Department and/or CDC issues a “Level 4 Do Not Travel Alert” for your destination that prevents you and/or your crew from traveling to your embarkation port on the dates of your voyage.
You can stay up to date on the latest travel advisories for your destination at the US State Department Travel Advisories website.
Voyage dates eligible for Free Re-booking would be re-booked for your same destination within one year of your initial departure date. If further alerts are issued that again prevent travel, the Free Re-booking offer would be extended an additional year.

With a policy that covers travel expenses, your Sail Around The World booking fees can be reimbursed to you should unforeseen circumstances prevent you, or members of your traveling party, from joining the voyage.
Sail Around The World does not require proof of travel insurance as a pre-requisite for boarding, however, some destinations may require travel insurance and/or travel medical insurance as a prerequisite for entry into their country. It is the responsibility of each Guest to verify updated travel and entry protocols to determine what type of travel insurance, if any, is required for their destination.
Note that Travel Insurance and Travel Medical Insurance are different types of coverages. Depending upon the provider, these two coverages can be combined into one policy.
