Just south of Neiafu is the secluded gem of Kapa Island. The anchorage of Port Maurelle on the west side is protected from the south-east trades and is a great first day voyage to get your sea legs. A unique feature of the island is the famous Swallows Cave, a spectacular sea cave located on the island’s coastline at the tip of Port Maurelle. Known for its mesmerizing light effects and towering limestone walls that climb to an open jungle canopy above, the cave can be explored by dingy, snorkeling or diving. Inside, the sunlight filters through the water, illuminating the cave with a magical ultra blue glow that creates an unforgettable visual experience. Kapa also offers lush jungle trails for island hikes, one trail leading to beautiful turquoise waters and a small town nearby, as well as serene beaches with perfect spots for those sunset photos.
